The Narrow Escape by D’Andre Parker is the perfect blend of action, suspense, and romance. Tom Watson is just a regular guy with a regular job, until the day he discovers his neighbor has been selling guns on the black market. What starts off as a normal day quickly turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse as Tom tries to stop a potential crime from happening. As a former Atlanta police officer, Tom has a rigid sense of right and wrong. He is determined to keep the illegal weapons from getting into the hands of criminals. Having lost his first wife to gun violence, Tom makes it his personal mission to stop his neighbor. As he is trying to keep the guns off the streets, Tom meets Detective Jocelyn Carver. Detective Carver has been newly assigned to the firearms investigation division, and is determined to close her first case—no matter what. Sparks fly as Joce and Tom keep ruining each other’s plan to catch the gun smuggler. The two eventually decide they would be better off working together instead of against each other. That is when the action and romance really heat up. Readers will be drawn in by Joce and Tom’s dedication to catching the criminal, and intrigued by the way the two are instantly drawn to each other. What they each think is a small-time gun smuggling ring turns out to be the biggest black-market gun ring in Atlanta. They both soon realize that they will need to use all their skills as a team if they expect to bring down the man who runs it all. Just when they have the Boss in their sites they discover there is a mole on the police force who is feeding the Boss intel on them. Will Tom and Joce be able to identify the mole before their whole case goes up in smoke? Will they be able to stop the gun sale before something horrific happens?

“Couldn’t put it down!” -review by John S.
Once I started reading I had to know how it ended. The author does an amazing job of weaving in the suspense and the action throughout every part of the book.
“Felt too formulaic in the plot” -review by Shannon M.
Overall I liked the story, but it felt like it was following a set list of what should happen next. I felt like by the end I could predict what was going to happen, which made me lose interest.
“Hated the ending!” -review by Sheri Tickle
I loved the book until the end. It just seemed to end without much explanation or resolution to many of the plot lines. There were some holes in the plot where it just didn’t make sense at the end.
“Really good plot line!” –
What I love about this book is that you never know what is going to happen next. Just when you think you know what the bad guy will do he does something totally unexpected. There was never a dull moment in the book. I loved it!

Such believable characters! -review by Landon Moffat
The characters in this book feel like they could truly live down the street. There is such a “real” quality to the characters as I read that I felt like I knew the people in the book. I have never read a book with that level of relatability before. This author is amazing!
